Held on 21st August, 2017; this day was one of the most memorable days for Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial & Management Studies, University of Mumbai. Our institute in association with the US consulate, had the great opportunity to host elected representatives Mr. Greg Snowden(R) of Mississippi House of representatives and Mr. Brian Kennedy (D) of Rhode island House of representatives.
Mr. Brain Kennedy is speaker pro tempore & serves in the house of leadership. Besides he is also co-chairman of the National Conference of State Legislature Communications (NCSL), Financial Services & Interstate Commerce (CFI) committee and a member of NCSL executive committee.
Mr. Greg Snowden is the speaker pro tempore & serves in the house of leadership. Along with this, he also serves on the leadership Council of Southern Legislative Council (SLC) & on the leadership Council of Council of State government (CSG).
The event held focussed on discussing the relationship between India & US. The esteemed speakers discussed with the students what they thought about the same and also shared their experiences of being in India.
The event provided an opportunity to us students to clear our various doubts and queries regarding India and US ties. Of the questions asked, major topics included the details of exchange programs, status of H1B visas, business opportunities in US , so on and so forth. All the questions and queries were graciously answered by the guest speakers. Due to time crunch all the students were not able to put forth their queries but the kind speakers promised to answer the questions via email, details of which were shared with the institute’s faculty.
All in all it was a great learning session for us students as we not only got an opportunity to interact with esteemed speakers but also got a look into their own experiences.
