PRARAMBH 2019
Before the first-year students get occupied in their regular schedule of lectures, studies, presentations, assignments, they were introduced to the college with our very own Orientation program ‘Prarambh‘(Commencement). Little did they know what fun they would be having during the same. The godfather of this event, the Alumni committee diligently and tirelessly worked on every detail to make it come successful and momentous. The program lasted for 4 days and each day had its spark and sensation.
Day 1: Beginning of Prarambh
The first-year students were addressed with Words of Wisdom by our Director Dr. Smita Shukla Ma’am, by our Coordinator Dr. Aruna Deshpande Ma’am and other important faculty of our college. Also, the students got to know about the non-teaching staff of the institute. The Alumni Committee introduced them to the first year batch, provided each student a Welcome Kit and made them understand why it was important to arrange such an orientation program. Our family-like Faculty Mr. Jawed Kalangade then enthusiastically took introductions of every student and ended up the event but only for the day!
Day 2: Self-conscious and Peace of Mind
The second one was more an enigmatic start for the students as we had a guest speaker Mr. Neil Sequeira, VP HR, Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, coming up to cheer up them. A simple question asked by him was “What is your dream?” as dreams are so important to be seen and achieved gradually. The students got to recollect some strategic life lessons through famous dialogues from movies. Students have expressed their wish to have more of his sessions. No doubt, he is a natural orator! The next guest who showed up was Mr. Augi Dalton, a known Brand consultant and Professor of Marketing and Advertising at JBIMS. It was delightful to listen to his tactics of overpowering our mind and science of the left & right brain. One such unusual activity through him was to burn out negativity and negative memories by jotting it down on paper and consequently tearing it into pieces thus physically discarding negative thoughts before beginning this journey. The day ended with students feeling calm and relaxed!
Day : 3 Attention to Personal Grooming
‘SUCCESS FAVORS THE WELL GROOMED’
Personal grooming was the topic of this day. We had Mrs. Priyanka, a very well known Grooming Consultant as our speaker. The students were consulted on every minute detail of personal grooming, a lot of their questions and doubts cleared. Ma’am also made it interactive through activities. One such was how the groups formed will improvise their personality through personal grooming and care. For the second half of the day, various committees of the college – Media, Cultural, Artillery, Placement, E-Cell presented themselves and encouraged students to be a part of such committees. The Artillery committee also came forward to test the IQ skills of students and organized a Quiz game for the same. Getting into at least a committee helps one to get a step closer to the institute!
Day 4: Business Badshah
Day 4 was to be a completely close-knitted college affair. The students were surprised after knowing what the Alumni committee had planned for them. They were introduced to an entrepreneurial challenge called “Business Badshah“. It was a task to manage your own business, get registrations done, induce capital which was decided as maximum to be Rs 500/- for every group and put in into any product or service to maximize their profits and all that in a day within the stipulated time from 12 pm to 3 pm! This was meant as an actual ice breaker for the students. Judges for this task were our Institute’s professors Mr. Abhiraj Shivdas, Mr. Rakesh Malusare. In the end, a total of Rs 19,900/- were earned by eight groups by working relentlessly hard. And the team “Horizon” won the Business Badshah challenge and won the amount of Rs. 16,318.
Cheers to all the stakeholders of Prarambh ‘Hip Hip Hurray’.

HR HORIZON 2018
“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.”
– By Audre Lorde
As rightly mentioned by the Author, Diversity is a condition that is necessary for life.
On 6th October 2018, Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial and Management Studies organized an event HR Horizon – A Panel Discussion on “Diversity acceptance in Work Life.” We had an esteemed set of a Panelist to throw some light on such a sensitive topic that touched upon gender-biased society and disability.
It was a great pleasure to have:
Dr. Neil Seqeira (Moderator) – Vice President – HR and Administration at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Mr. Ashok Row Kavi – an eminent Journalist and Social Activist.
Dr. Asmita Huddar – Principal – Hashu Advani College of Special Education.
Mr. Amey Patwardhan – B.com. L.L.B. ACS.
Mrs. Neha Kharde – Vice President – Group HR – GCO, GMC & Diversity.
Mr. Gopal Garg – Co-Founder and COO. Youth 4 Jobs Foundation.
Mr. Prashant Issar – Founder and CEO Mirchi and Mime.
As rightly said by Mr. Gopal Garg, Diversity begins with a simple step – 4 A’s (Acceptance, Accessibility, Attitude and Accommodation). The way we perceive transgender people or specially challenged people is something we need to change. Dr. Asmita Huddar addressed the issue beautifully by saying –
“We are all Special
Because You are you, and
I am I.”
There are people who not only get empathized with such Diversity but they also create a path out of it. Mr. Prashant Issar – Founder and CEO of Mirchi and Mime, a restaurant with hearing and speech-impaired wait staff. When asked about his journey as an Entrepreneur, he said: “If you work within your resources, then you become a manager but if you don’t care about scarcity, then you become an Entrepreneur.”
We often spend most of our time looking out for inspiration but the truth is that the inspiration lies within us. It starts with You! Similarly, Mrs. Neha Kharde and Mr. Ashok Row Kavi have set a benchmark for us. It is not easy to change the mindset of the people, especially in a country like India where the Culture is deeply rooted. The World will change on its own. You just have to change one thought!
Thank you ADMI for such a great session which gave us a different perspective of looking at the World.

MUNIJAN 2018
MUNIJAN 2018 is an initiative taken by the University of Mumbai to address social issues. The moment we heard of MUNIJAN 2018, we were excited to participate for the social cause. The theme of MUNIJAN 2018 was “Environment: Conserving Nature; Earth is what we have in common.”
We, being dendrophile, commenced with charting out our ideas by brainstorming. We selected Textile re-purposing as our topic. The aim was to generate awareness related to textile waste in India. In spite of the fact that cent percent of textile could be recycled, only 95 percent of textile waste is disposed of by landfills.
Due to fast fashion and increased buying power of consumers especially in urban areas, Textile waste management, and its disposal is need of an hour. So, instead of throwing away textile waste, we can re-cycle those waste materials. This will not only reduce the amount of textile waste generated in India but it will also help to create employment opportunities for youths!
With MUNIJAN being a state-level competition, we learned various aspects of textiles. We learned to be socially responsible, the company’s Corporate Governance, CSR, environment conservation etc. Teamwork, cooperation, understanding among members is a must for teams’ success. Our footfall at Convocation Hall, the University of Mumbai on 2nd October 2018 is indeed a lifelong experience for us.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the University of Mumbai and Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial and Management Studies for giving us this opportunity.
Regards

JOURNEY SO FAR @ADMI..
Selecting MMS as my post-graduation was my choice but getting selected in ADMI was my destiny.
New hope, new enthusiasm, new zeal, new aspiration, all bags packed and I began my journey with no idea as to what will be served on my plate. The field was new, the area was new, new were the subjects and so was the environment. In a class with the mix of Engineers, Commerce graduates, and Science graduates were alone Pharmacists. With many doubts, many fears, and high hopes I began my journey in ADMI.
Not much time has passed; just one semester and 6 months. The fears and doubts have now faded and the hopes have risen high. In this competitive world, where everyone strives to seek the best possible B school, I choose ADMI. The institute might not be one of the top institutes of Mumbai but aims high to reach that height. It is not one of those B-Schools who take a back seat by knowing the fact that they aren’t in the top, but it’s one of them, who constantly try to leave no stone unturned to be at the top. The Institute motivates and supports students to take part in various activities, co-curricular or extra-curricular, to enhance the personality of its students. ADMI constantly focuses on grooming it’s students, not only for professionals but also for their personal life. The faculty of ADMI is very supportive and knowledgeable. Any new ideas or suggestions which cater to student’s benefits are always welcomed here. The college constantly insists its students on getting know-how of the business in the society as it is one of the pre-requisites for future managers.
My boat has sailed very smoothly in ADMI so far and I hope it further continues to sail through until I reach my destination. I aspire to take much more from this institute than what I have received till now. Students are the backbone of this institute and they play a very vital role in shaping the image of the institute.
Thankyou.!
